This is the first of a weekly newsletter that I will be writing to inform the people that are dear to me, to help inform them about one of the only Bill of Rights that is time and time again not defended by our higher courts and is slowly slipping away – the 2nd Amendment.
Like the millions of law abiding gun owners in
America
, I am a peace loving person. I own firearms so that I can defend myself and my family, should that need arise. While I sincerely hope that I am never in the position of having to fire a gun in self defense, I rest easier at night knowing that I could stop an armed robber, racist attacker, terrorist, or home invader if the need arose. I also rest easier knowing that my fiancé could stop a rapist or murderer, rather than becoming a victim.
, which already has an outright ban on handguns, but still has at least 1 handgun shooting every day, and sometimes over 30 in a weekend. Gun control laws are just like any other law, in that people can choose to obey or disobey. A criminal who disobeys the law against murder, which is arguably the most strictly enforced law in our society, is not going to think twice about ignoring a gun ban law.
Some people will then argue that by banning guns all together, we will somehow keep the guns out of the hands of criminals, preventing them from having the guns at all. This reasoning is faulty. Criminals manage to smuggle in millions upon millions of pounds of illegal drugs, and thousands upon thousands of illegal immigrants each year. They can (and do) smuggle in guns right along with the drugs and illegal immigrants. There are also hundreds of millions of guns in the country already. Finally, criminals can and do make guns, since it is not that difficult to make a gun that will work for their purposes.
So let’s look to a country that has done just that, banned guns altogether. A study shown by the BBC News showed that after handguns ownership was banned in 1997 after the Dunblane Massacre, handgun crime rose by 40% over the next 2 years. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/1440764.stm
But hey that was over 10 years ago, I’m sure all the citizens there are safe now, right? And there are no shootings ever and you will never hear of a law abiding citizen gunned down or robbed or murdered by handguns. I dare you to look up the facts for handgun related crimes. Banning guns just doesn’t work. It favors the criminal over the law-abiding citizen. But hey that is how most of the laws are these days.

Dear Friends,
This week I’ve decided to postpone what I wanted to talk about, because a friend of mine sent me a link to one of the most ‘Eye-Opening’ short films I have ever seen. A video, that no matter what views you have on gun control or what ethnicity you are, as an American you will be amazed by these shameful facts.
This video is 20 minutes long and I know many of you can get away with 3-5 maybe 8 minutes of Internet at your desk during work hours, but 20 minutes might be stretching it. So I implore you, either watch this tonight when you have the time or eat your lunch at your desk and watch it at noon. This video will really stun you……
The film is called “No Guns For Negro’s”, and it’s all about how gun control in
America
began as an attempt to disarm the free blacks following the civil war. It’s a must-watch for you and everyone you know. Here’s what the JPFO says about the film:
“No Guns for Negroes” -exposes the racist history of American gun control laws. Every person who supports gun control laws must be shown this film or gun ownership will cease to exist in America.
For those who have to wait to see the video here’s a much shorter one, very entertaining and informative. This was back in 1999 on the Rosie O’Donnell show where Rosie attacks Tom Selleck.
But you see how cool, calm and more intelligent and informed heads always prevail.

JULY 24, 2009 - NEWSLETTER #3
Dear Friends,
Occasionally people will ask me, “Dave, if I were to buy a gun for home protection, what would be the best gun to have?”
I’ve also had a good friend of mine ask me just recently, “I can’t stand my Dog crapping on my carpet anymore, I’m getting rid of him and getting a gun instead. But, I’m worried, I have three small kids and a wife that regularly gets mad at me.”
There are many experienced gun owners out there that give their opinions. What would be the best home defense, what would be the best self defense and what is the safest!
Each person’s situation and geographic location is different. Today lets just address home safety. I personally feel that everyone should at least own (2) types of guns, a SHOTGUN - 12 Gauge preferably and a semi-auto pistol.
First, a shot gun is incredibly effective. I recommend using 00 buckshot (pronounced “double ought buckshot”). Barrel size should be 18”, which is the minimal length allowed by law in most states and it is still not too cumbersome inside a home.
Now you have many advantages with a shotgun. The sound of a pump action shotgun has to be one of the most distinct sounds in the world! It would be almost impossible to find someone in the modern world (especially a criminal) that doesn’t recognize the sound of you pump loading your shotgun.
Quick side story: My dad used to do some P.I. and Bail Bondsman work. Yea that stuff you see Dog the Bounty Hunter do! Except with out the queer hair and YMCA outfits. My Dad told me a time when he was staking out in a van, a guy who had jumped bail. My old man was sitting in an unmarked Van, parked and just waiting in a very bad neighborhood. All of a sudden, he heard from all directions and saw in his side mirrors a group of 4-6 guys trying to open the handles of the doors on the sides and the back of the Van. He said he was completely surrounded. What did he do? He picked up his Pump Action Shot gun, Yelled out “OFFICIAL POLICE BUSINESS” and cocked that sucker! He said those punks scrambled like cockroaches.
The thing with a shotgun is if you hear someone in your house or on your property. Most of the time all you need to do is be seen walking around with a shotgun or yell out, “I have a shotgun” and the criminals are going to say to themselves, I think I rather rob someone who isn’t armed, and get the hell out of there.
Another good thing about a shotgun is you can get a good one for about $250-$500, it is extremely effective at close range and with buckshot you don’t have to worry about it going through the walls and unintentionally hitting your neighbors or loved ones.
Next for the Pistol; my buddy who got rid of his dog was very concerned with his kids……and his wife. Ha ha The wife thing I can’t help you with. But as for the kids, I recommend a Bio-Metrics Safe and the new Springfield XD or better yet the XD(m) pistols.
Gunvault as well as several other brands make biometrics entry – specifically fingerprint, NO-EYES, recognition access. Perfect when you hear that crash, boom in the night and the lights are off. You can input several fingerprints, so you and your wife; or you and your husband can both get to your protection when you need it (and not your kids or anyone else). These go for under $200. You usually can get them for around $150 and keep them on your night stand, insert them into a wall behind a painting or put them on a shelf in your closet.
I next recommended to my friend, who was very safety conscious, the Springfield XD(m) 9mm. Personally I would want a XD .45 ACP for stopping power or at least they make a XDM .40 cal, but he has the intention of training his wife because he travels a lot and wants her to be ready ‘Just in Case’ and the lower caliber with less recoil is best. The reason I recommended the XD or XD(m)’s from Springfield Armory is the level of safety that they put into their guns.
They are equipped with the Ultra Safety Trigger system which guards against accidental discharge from dropping or bumping by locking the trigger in place until direct, rearward pressure is applied. If you see the picture below, there is a trigger within the trigger. Unless the first one is pulled, the main trigger mechanism cannot be discharged. Secondly, they have a grip safety. It allows the firearm to fire only when you have a firm grip on the handle. There is also a loaded chamber indicator and a striker status indicator. It’s truly a great gun.
I hoped this helped and remember, “IT IS BETTER TO HAVE A GUN AND NOT NEED IT, THAN TO NEED A GUN AND NOT HAVE IT”.
Take care and God Bless!
